Florence Griffith Joyner, better known as FloJo, was born December 21st, 1959 in Los Angeles in California. During the 1980's, she was considered the fastest woman in the world and she still holds the world records in both the 100m and 200m. At the 1988 Summer Olympics, she won 4 medals - three of which were gold. Florence also enjoyed painting. She graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1982. Florence died in her sleep on September 21st, 1998 at the age of 38 from an epileptic seizure. Florence left behind her husband, Al Joyner - also a track and field athlete, and a daughter.
