A Hungarian American record producer and musician, he was member of the punk rock quartet The Ramones in 1974 (they all took the last name Ramone). He was known by the stage name Tommy Ramone. He was the manager of the band but became the drummer for 4 years when none of the others wanted the job due to the fast paced performances. The band was heavily influenced by the 1970s hard-rock band, the New York Dolls. He also played rhythm guitar and joined Claudia Tienan as a bluegrass-based folk duo called Uncle Monk. He passed away after receiving hospice care following unsuccessful treatment for bile duct cancer. He also joined many other artists in various collaborations throughout his career.
