After meeting Dee Dee Ramone in the early 70s, a collaboration took place with future bandmates and The Ramones was formed. Johnnys guitar style was a key part of the Ramones sound and would become a major punk rock influence. Johnny was responsible for initiating one of the major sources of animosity within the band when he began dating and later married Joey's ex-girlfriend.
