David Robert Jones was born January 8th, 1947 in Brixton, London, England. He was a singer, songwriter, and actor who was famously known as David Bowie and is considered to be one of the most influential artists of his time. He released his first album in 1967, but it was his work in the 1970's that caused his quick rise to stardom, much with the help of his popular track Space Oddity, and of course his androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. In over four decades as an artist, Bowie's image and musical style constantly evolved. Bowie was also a talented actor, having starred in numerous movies and broad way productions. David Bowie passed away on January 10th, 2016 at the age of 69. He had been battling liver cancer for the 18 months prior. He released his 28th and final album just days before his death. Bowie is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
