Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was born on February 26th, 1941 in Acton, London, England. He worked for numerous years as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, performing in theatrical productions. It was in the stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985 when he earned his first big break as an actor. He is most famous for his roles as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series. Rickman died on January 14th, 2016 at the age of 69 as the result of cancer. His voice was used for Absolem the caterpillar in Alice Through the Looking Glass, which will be released in 2016. He is survived by his wife, Rima Horton.
